As construction industry regulation continues to increase, this session will discuss the barriers to strategic success that continue to erode profits and how to best manage the changes to win. Steve will introduce recent and upcoming standards that will impact the air barrier industry. The session will propose different techniques to create an adaptable, collaborative strategy that will enable construction leaders to manage industry changes and maintain and grow profits in the face of increasing governance.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to describe the recent and upcoming changes to the air barrier industry
  2. Participants will be able to discuss the different ways that changing regulation will impact their business models
  3. Participants will be able to list the four different types of construction strategies and how to combine aspects from each to increase profits
  4. Participants will be able to better track industry shifts on a continuous basis using recommended analytic tools recommended in the course

Steve Coughran, CPA, CVA, MBA

Steve Coughran is a Founder and Director of Strategy at the Coltivar Group, a keynote speaker for national associations and universities and author of Delivering Value. He has leveraged his strategic and analytic expertise to power sustainable and profitable growth in large multinational construction and infrastructure firms.

As an entrepreneur, Steve has launched award-winning firms in the construction industry. He remains active in the community and has served on the Associate Council of the AGC, State Board of Directors for the green industry, as an active member of CAMPC, and as leader in Impact Denver. He applies his industry experience and financial acumen gained from working with million and billion dollar firms at Ernst & Young to help companies capitalize on their strength and create superior value by performing activities in a unique way.

Steve recently participated in the Executive Education program at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and is currently pursuing his MBA at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University with a concentration in competitive strategy. In addition, Steve earned his Master of Accountancy from the University of Denver and a Bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from the University of Colorado Denver.
